Why Anemia mini profile test?
CLINICAL INFORMATION :
ANEMIA MINI PROFILE is an essential to blood test panel to measure serum vitamin B-12, folate and iron levels to identify the cause of anemia and for differential diagnosis to differentiate from aplastic anemia, hemolytic anemia, iron deficiency anemia, sickle cell anemia, thalassemia, and/or iron deficiency anemia, etc. Moreover, iron and total iron-binding capacity tests, transferrin, complete blood count, hemoglobin, and comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP-14) are used for testing differential diagnosis of anemia, evaluation of thalassemia, and sickle cell anemia, possible sideroblastic anemia, and the evaluation of iron poisoning. Causes of anemia are malnutrition, intestinal disorders, menstruation, pregnancy, family history, chronic conditions like cancer, kidney failure, diabetes, and other factors such as infections, blood diseases, autoimmune disorders, alcoholism, exposure to toxic substances and certain medications, etc. Signs and symptoms of anemia are fatigue, weakness, pale skin, irregular heartbeats, shortness of breath, dizziness, chest pain, and cold hands and feet. Complications of anemia are severe fatigue, pregnancy complications heart problems like irregular beat (arrhythmias), extra load to pump more blood to make up for lack of oxygen can make the heart enlarge and result in heart failure and death (life-threatening complications like hemophilia).
