ANCA (IFA Method)

ANCA- Antineutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibodies are Autoantibodies created by the abnormal Immune System. Sometimes Antibodies are triggered against self-antigens of the body, such as neutrophils PROTEIN(Kind of white blood cells). ANCA IFA (Indirect Fluorescent Antibody) method is a primary test to examine antibodies in the blood sample to diagnose autoimmune disorders.

Why ANCA - IFA test?

CLINICAL INFORMATION :

ANCA – IFA test method detects anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCAs) in serum. These auto-antibodies are mainly IgG against an antigen in the cytoplasm of neutrophil granulocytes (and monocytes). This ANCA test and/or test for MPO and PR3 are ordered with signs and symptoms of systemic autoimmune vasculitis and inflammatory bowel disease. The clinical manifestations of systemic auto-immune vasculitis include Eyes- red, itchy eyes, pink eye (conjunctivitis), blurry vision, or/and loss of vision. Ears – hearing loss, Nose – runny nose, and upper respiratory symptoms, skin – rashes and/or granulomas, Lungs – cough and/or difficulty breathing, Kidneys – proteinuria. The clinical manifestations of inflammatory bowel disease include abdominal pain and cramps, diarrhea, rectal bleeding, fever, fatigue, and some symptoms associated with joints, skin, bone, and other organ-related symptoms. Usually, this test is performed along with anti-saccharomyces cerevisiae antibodies (ASCA). This test is a differential diagnosis for ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.
