ALLERGY HOUSE DUST MITE:

Why Allergy House Dust Mite Test?

CLINICAL INFORMATION:

Allergy house dust mite is a part of the allergy panel. Suspected dust mite allergy is usually based on clinical manifestations such as signs and symptoms. To confirm this allergy clinical examination is performed. This is followed by an allergy skin test and allergy blood test.  This dust mite allergy test checks for an allergic reaction to corn or corn products by determining the levels of IgE antibodies in the blood. This test procedure identifies allergens responsible for allergic disease and/or anaphylactic episodes. The clinical manifestations of the allergic hypersensitive disease are caused by triggers followed by a cascade of consequences hence resulting in pro-inflammatory mediators like histamine, leukotrienes, and prostaglandins from IgE immunoglobulin sensitized effector cells (mast cells and basophils). The clinical manifestations of dust mite allergy include eczema and respiratory diseases like rhinitis and bronchospasm, swelling in the face, lips, or tongue, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, rash or hives, eczema, runny nose, wheezing or cough, the clinical manifestation of signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis, etc. Untreated complications of a dust mite allergy can lead to consequences like rapid heartbeat, sudden drop in blood pressure, heart palpitations, trouble breathing, swelling in the air passage of the throat, slurred speech, swollen tongue, swollen lips, cyanosis around lips, fingertips or toes and loss of consciousness, etc.
