Why Allergen coconut test?


Allergen coconut test is a part of the food allergy panel. Coconut comes from the seed of a coconut palm tree. This coconut allergen test checks for an allergic reaction to coconut by determining the levels of IgE antibodies in the blood. A skin prick test also called a puncture or scratch test is performed in the forearm for allergic response elicited by the body against that specific or any related antigen present in the coconut in the suspected patient. Symptoms of coconut allergy include swelling in the face, lips, or tongue, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, rash or hives, eczema, runny nose, wheezing, or cough, the clinical manifestation of signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis, etc. Untreated complications of a coconut allergy can lead to consequences like rapid heartbeat, sudden drop in blood pressure, heart palpitations, trouble breathing, swelling in the air passage of the throat, slurred speech, swollen tongue, swollen lips, cyanosis around lips, fingertips, or toes and loss of consciousness, etc.
