Adenosine Deaminase (ADA)

ADA- Adenosine Deaminase is an enzyme that involves in the metabolism of Purine. It breakdowns the Adenosine of the food we consume and convert it into nucleic acids. ADA plays a vital role in regulating the Immune System of the body. This test measures Adenosine Deaminase in Pleural fluid to diagnose Tuberculosis (TB) or Mycobacterium Tuberculosis.

ADENOSINE DEAMINASE (ADA) - ASCITIC FLUID:

CLINICAL INFORMATION :

Adenosine deaminase (ADA) catalyzes the deamination of adenosine. ADA exists in two isoforms – ADA1 and ADA2. They share the same substrate but differ in terms of expression, cellular location, and catalytic and biochemical properties. Deficiency of adenosine deaminase2 (DADA2) caused due to an autosomal recessive disease is involved in diseases of the blood and blood-forming organs and certain disorders involving immune mechanism. DAD2 is characterized by systemic vascular and inflammatory manifestations, stroke, immunodeficiency, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and Crohn's disease. ADA2 is a diagnostic biomarker for inflammation and is a diagnostic tool for tuberculosis.
