FSH TEST:
FSH Test determines the Follicle Stimulating Hormone level of the blood. A follicle-stimulating hormone produced by the pituitary gland. FSH has a vital role in sexual and reproductive functioning. This Blood test used to diagnose the FERTILITY RELATED DISORDERS of both sexes – Male and Female. This test will be preferred if a woman with issues related to pregnancy & menstrual disorders or in men with low sperm count (semen analysis).
CLINICAL INFORMATION :
This test is usually done mainly in females of reproductive age group as a basic fertility testing and to evaluate ovarian reserves, menopause, ovarian cysts, and PCOs. It helps to manage the menstrual cycle and stimulates the ovaries to produce eggs. Low FSH: women and men of reproductive age group may experience a low sexual drive, infertility, or fatigue. While in the age group of children and adolescents delayed puberty is the only symptom. Women may exhibit hot flashes while men may develop symptoms of erectile dysfunction, decreased facial or body hair, mood changes, etc. High FSH: It may result in a loss of ovarian function or ovarian failure, menopause, PCOs and may result in ovarian cysts. The symptoms of high FSH in females may often mimic those of menopause, irregular periods, hot flashes, and headaches. Other associated tests include radioimmunoassay, ELISA kit methods, etc.
